# You're the Owner — where to begin

You created the business, so EcommOS made you the Owner automatically. You're the only one — there's exactly one Owner per business, and the role can't be removed or reassigned by mistake.

## What you can do

Everything. Owner is the only role with no locked doors:

* Run daily operations — orders, deliveries, inventory, staff, finance.
* Manage billing and transfer ownership to someone else.
* Delete the business, if it ever comes to that.
* Assign any role to any staff member, including General Manager.

If a screen or action exists in EcommOS, you can see it.

## Where to begin

You're setting up the business itself, not just working inside it. Follow the full setup path in order:

1. [Create your account and workspace](/docs/getting-started/create-account)
2. [Starter setup checklist](/docs/getting-started/starter-setup)
3. [Add your first product](/docs/getting-started/first-product)
4. [Create your first sales form](/docs/getting-started/first-form)
5. [Add staff and set roles](/docs/operations/staff-onboarding) — this is where you'll hand off day-to-day work to a General Manager, Sales manager, or specialist roles once you're ready.
6. [Create or receive your first order](/docs/getting-started/first-order)

## What to hand off, and to whom

You don't have to run every part of the business yourself. Once you're comfortable with the basics, consider:

* A **General Manager** if you want someone running daily operations with the same reach as you, minus billing and the ability to delete the business.
* A **Sales manager** if you have a team of reps working the order queue.
* A **Logistics manager** if delivery agents and dispatch need dedicated attention.
* An **Inventory manager** if stock and waybills need a dedicated owner.
* An **Accountant** if you want someone handling Cashflow and Remittance without seeing customer orders at all.

See the [Roles](/docs/roles/general-manager) section for what each of those looks like day to day, and [Add staff and set roles](/docs/operations/staff-onboarding) for how to invite them.
